About Me
We live in Northern California and have a small backyard flock of Dorkings. I purchased my birds in Spring of 2010 from Superior Farms. We have (2) SG, (3) Reds, (1) Colored. I just love Dorkings. My girls come running to see me and get treats. They are so tame and yet active. They stroll around the yard all day looking for bugs and such to eat. I plan on breeding starting in 2011. I am going to breed SG and experiment on Some crossing of a SG Cock to Reds and Colored Hen. ~ Long live the Dorking Post a CommentOops! The words you entered did not match the given text. Do you have any adult or young birds available for sale??
Hi Maria,
I posted some photos of the fabulous four. Have you seen them?
Aw, I'm sad you had to cull them. I have some Dorkings that I bought in poor shape, but I think they're doing well, now. I don't plan on culling them. I have noticed Dorkings, almost more than any other breed I've seen, benefit from lots of ranging, as often as you can allow them out. Mine like forage better than feed and do so much better on it than the commercial feeds. Also, the old Roman texts, if they are to believed to be Dorkings, say they do well on oats. So you might try adding some oats to their diet. :-)
